The Saucony Run for Good Program encourages active and healthy lifestyles in children. The Foundation is seeking to fund applicants that initiate and support running and fitness programs for kids. Multiple awards of up to $10,000 will be granted.

Cinereach Invites LoI’s for Film Production Grant Program

Cinereach is a not-for-profit film production company and foundation, is offering grants of up to $50,000, plus networking and outreach opportunities, to nonprofit organizations working to produce feature-length films that spark dialogue, challenge prejudice, and help foster global community.

Grant Success Story: Hartford Public Library

The Hartford Public Library is having standing-room-only success with its LSTA-funded program for older adults, Arts and Archives: Master Classes in the Arts and Humanities.

Coordinator Brenda Miller took time for a little Q&A recently so that some of the project's best practices could shine. This is a replicable program that stimulates the creative and artistic talents of patrons and which can be scaled to any size library in a variety of ways.

LSTA stands for Library Services and Technology Act, funding distributed by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. What is a volunteer? Are your staff members volunteers or employees? What laws apply and don’t apply to volunteers? Should you screen potential volunteers and how? When and how can a nonprofit organization be held liable for the negligent acts of its volunteers? Can your volunteers be sued? What procedures can reduce the risk of liability to your volunteers? This workshop addresses these, and other legal issues, related to volunteer program management.

Bikes Belong

The Bikes Belong Grant Program is aimed at providing funding to those who strive to improve bicycling in America through things such as the building of trails and paths, or through promoting general bicycling advocacy and awareness.

Bikes Belong accepts requests for funding of up to $10,000 for facility and advocacy projects and has an online grant seeker's guide.

Rolling deadlines;

Library of Congress Surplus Books Program

The Library of Congress's Surplus Books Program makes books available to educational institutions. The books are a mixture of topics with only a small percentage of publications at the primary and secondary school levels. Your library needs to send or designate someone to choose books from the collection and pay for shipping the material.

You'd get a mystery selection, kinda cool.
