The Music Is Revolution Foundation from Svengirly administers a mini-grant program for activities designed by teachers to implement, support, and/or improve their ability to provide quality music education for their students.

Only projects that clearly contain a music education focus - that is, projects based on the concept of music education, through musical experiences, initiating students into a sense of their social, academic, and cultural identity, and humanizing them through the emotional, cognitive, and/or physical impact of music will be considered.

Funds may be used for supplies, materials, equipment, transportation for a field trip, and/or to bring a performer or musical group to the school. Funds may not be used to pay for personnel, to replace state or local school funds, or for celebration food and drinks.

Public school teachers of children in grades K-12 may apply for funding.

Applications are reviewed three times a year. Deadlines are January 15, April 15 and October 15.

ALA Annual Diversity Research Grant Program

ALA's Diversity Research Grant program addresses critical gaps in the knowledge of diversity issues within library and information science. The Diversity Research Grant consists of a one-time $2500 annual award for original research.  Three grants are awarded each year.

A jury of ALA members evaluates proposals and is encouraged to award a total of three awards. Grant recipients will be expected to compile the results of their research into a paper and will be asked to present and publish the final product in conjunction with the American Library Association within three months of completing their research. Grant proposals may address any diversity topic that speaks to critical gaps in the knowledge of diversity issues within library and information science.

Freedom to Read Foundation

Applications are now open for the 2013 Judith F.Krug Memorial Fund Banned Books Week event grants, sponsored by the Freedom to Read Foundation (FTRF).

Grants in the amounts of $2,500 and $1,000 will be given to organizations in support of "Read-Outs” or other activities that celebrate Banned Books Week (Sept. 22 – 30, 2013).

Applicants must include planning and budget outlines for their projects; agree to record the event, if selected; and provide a written narrative afterward, for use by the Freedom to Read Foundation and American Library Association.

Foundation for Financial Planning

The mission of the Foundation for Financial Planning www.foundation-finplan.org is to help people take control of their financial lives by connecting the financial planning community with people in need.

The Foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations nationwide for community outreach and pro bono activities that utilize financial planning practitioners in the delivery of services.

Support is provided to organizations that provide services to specific target audiences who are underserved by the market, in need of financial guidance, or in a financial crisis. Priority is given to outreach efforts to military personnel and their families, Financial Life Skills education programs through high schools and/or youth organizations, and programs offered through community-based organizations. Programs that can be replicated on a regional or nationwide basis are given special consideration.

Public Park Recycling Bin Grant program

The Public Park Recycling Bin Grant program, sponsored by Keep America Beautiful (KAB) and the Dr Pepper Snapple Group, is designed to help local, regional and state parks establish or expand recycling opportunities. Grantees will receive their choice of four different styles of recycling bins and will be eligible to purchase additional bins at a discounted price. Info here.

Information and application.

The intent of the program is to help local communities increase the number of beverage containers recovered for recycling. While not every request can be fulfilled, the program looks to award bins to those applicants who can demonstrate the greatest potential to impact beverage container recovery. The grant specifically targets beverage container recycling and is not intended to provide bins for collecting paper or other materials.

The program is open to all government agencies that own or manage local, regional or state parks. Nonprofit organizations and KAB affiliates are also eligible to apply on behalf of government agencies.

Target Foundation: arts, culture & design in schools grants

Charitable organizations, accredited schools or public agencies can request funds from Target’s Arts, Culture & Design in Schools grants. 

Target Funds In-school arts programs that enhance students' classroom curricula by bringing the arts and cultural experiences to schools, such as in-school performances, artist-in-residency programs and workshops in schools. programs must take place between September 2013 and August 2014.

Reading grants are awarded to schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations, supporting K-3 reading programs such as weekend book clubs and after-school reading events that foster a love of reading. 

Each Early Childhood Reading Grant is $2,000. 

Your library must be within 100 miles of a Target stores in order to apply for a Target grant. The application is available online.
