Open Meadows Foundation Offers Funding for Projects to Benefit Women and Girls

Open Meadows Foundation is a grant-making organization for projects that are led by and benefit women and girls, particularly those from vulnerable communities. Open Meadows Foundation funds projects that do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender identity and expression, sexual identity and expression, age or ability. It offers grants up to $2000 to projects that:

* Are designed and implemented by women and girls;
* Reflect the diversity of the community served by the project in both its leadership and organization;
* Promote building community power;
* Promote gender, racial, social, economic and/or environmental justice; and
* Have limited financial access or have encountered obstacles in their search for funding.

There are two deadlines per year, August and February.

Wal-Mart State Giving Program

The Wal-Mart Foundation  provides grants to organizations working in these areas:

• Hunger relief and nutrition
• Sustainability
• Women's economic empowerment
• Career opportunities

Libri Books for Children Program

The Libri Foundation donates new, quality, hardcover children’s books to small, rural public U.S. libraries. 

More information. The remaining 2013 deadline is (postmarked by) August 15th.

Only libraries within the United States are eligible, and generally the average total operating budgets of grant recipients is less than $40,000. Libraries are qualified on an individual basis. In general, county libraries should serve a population under 16,000 and town libraries should serve a population under 10,000 (usually under 5,000). Libraries should be in a rural area, have a limited operating budget, and an active children's department. 

Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation

The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation is accepting 2013 grant applications from local NFP’s whose work benefits local communities where the Bank has a presence.

Grants will be made for existing program support, general support, special projects and/or start-up efforts covering a variety of issues that impact the community. he maximum grant amount is $5,000.

Requests should include a cover letter, introduction of the organization, proposal, grant application and IRS tax determination letter. 

Deadline is August 31, 2013; funding for approved projects will be awarded by December 31.

Toshiba American Foundation Grants for Grades 6-12

The Toshiba American Foundation Grants for Grades 6-12 program provides funds for science and math teachers in public or private (non-profit) schools may apply for grants to support classroom science and math education. Endorsement from a school official is required.
