Halliburton Foundation

The Halliburton Foundation makes direct donations to U.S.-based elementary and secondary schools and colleges and universities as well as a limited number of grants to health and health-related charities.

Part of the application is to demonstrate that supporting the request will be of benefit to the company, employees, the community and customers; the website states that "strong preference is given to organizations in areas where Halliburton has a significant presence as measured by facilities, employees and customers."

Grant requests are reviewed quarterly. 

American Honda Foundation

The American Honda Foundation supports youth education, specifically in the areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, the environment, job training and literacy.

Deadlines are four times a year, the next on is November. Grants range from $20,000 to $60,000 over a one-year period. The informational page is pretty robust with lists of grants from 2005 through 2009.

Proposals are submitted online in a process that begins with applicants taking an Eligibility Quiz to ensure the program meets certain qualifications.

CL&P & Yankee Gas - Community Investment Grants

CL&P and Yankee Gas Services provide community investment grants to organizations located in their service areas undertaking projects in the following areas:

* Economic and community development. "We partner with local, state, and regional efforts to promote the economy and create jobs. This includes a special emphasis on small business development, entrepreneurship, new job creation and retention, and smart growth."
* Environmental leadership and stewardship. "We support programs that promote environmental education, energy conservation, alternative and renewable energy, and environmental conservation projects, as well as those that protect or improve the environment."
* Education and workforce development. "We fund programs that help people develop technical skills for existing and potential jobs. We also invest in higher education programs targeted to meet workforce needs."

Applications for Community Investments grants are reviewed quarterly; 2nd quarter applications must be submitted by April 4. Organizations submit one proposal per year and include all requests for funding in that proposal.

Baseball tomorrow Fund

The Major League Baseball & Major League Baseball Players Association's Baseball Tomorrow Fund provides funding for incremental programming and facilities for youth baseball; grants are designed to be sufficiently flexible to enable applicants to address needs unique to their communities.

Though the average amount of funding is $39,000, there is no specified amount.

Application deadlines are 1/1, 4/1, 7/1 & 10/1 of every year.
