School Security Grants in Connecticut  
 
Funding is now available to Connecticut municipalities via the first round of school security funding under the Competitive Grant Program - a component of the Gun Violence Prevention and Children’s Safety Act.

The grants will reimburse municipalities for a portion of the costs associated with making safety and security improvements in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.


Eligible expense include but are not limited to: installation of surveillance cameras, penetration resistant vestibules, ballistic glass, solid core doors, double door access, computer controlled electronic locks, entry door buzzer systems, scan card systems, panic alarms, or systems and: the training of school personnel in the operation and maintenance of the security infrastructure of school buildings.
