The Best Buy Children's Foundation strengthens communities through its local, 'Community Grants' grantmaking program. Our goal is to provide positive experiences that will help youth excel in school, engage in their communities, and develop leadership skills. There are guidelines you can look at to make sure your organization meets eligibility requirements and instructions on filling the application out and also a FAQ page.
The average Community Grant amount is $4,000 – $6,000 (maximum=$10,000). Deadline: August 1, 2012
What are the guidelines for Community Grants?
Best Buy teams across the United States select non-profit organizations
that provide positive experiences to help teens to excel in school and
develop life leadership skills. Special consideration will be given to
programs that provide youth with access to opportunity through
technology. Additional criteria include:
- Serve a diverse population in local or regional communities
- Build social, academic, leadership and life skills in early adolescents (primarily ages 13-17)
- Show positive results against a demonstrated community need
- Reach at-risk children in working families
The grant application consists of four main sections (though oddly BB gives 5 bullet points):
- Organization Background Information
- Proposal Information
- Demographics
- Budget
- Authorization
