The Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut accepts grant applications
three times a year. The next round of applications is due on April 30,
2012.
Grants are awarded in several program categories, including Holiday Grants to area nonprofits that assist families of limited financial means, from a Women & Girls Fund, from the Edwards Community Endowment (a matching-grants program that helps establish or increase endowment funds), a Critter Fund, and an Arts Council. So give it a whirl!
Grants announced in December of 2011 include:
* $4,475.00 grant to Literacy Volunteers on the Green to purchase English language textbooks and instructional materials for non-native speakers who reside in the Foundation’s service area;
* $1,250 to the Torrington Early Childhood Collaborative to help create a user-friendly, interactive online community resource guide to help connect Torrington families to the resources they need;
* $6,300 to Youth Opportunities to help support an enrichment program intended primarily to further the educational and vocational goals of area Latino youth.
