Champions for Healthy Kids Program



The General Mills Foundation’s Champions for Healthy Kids program makes grants to nonprofit organizations working to improve nutrition and physical fitness behaviors for youth ages 2-18.

Fifty grants of $10,000 are available to select applicants; NFP’s are eligible.

Loleta D. Fyan Grant (ALA)



For the development and improvement of public libraries and the services they provide. All the information is here.

The project(s):
  1. must result in the development and improvement of public libraries and the services they provide;
  2. must have the potential for broader impact and application beyond meeting a specific local need;
  3. should be designed to effect changes in public library services that are innovative and responsive to the future; and
  4. should be capable of completion within one year.
Up to $5,000 total for one or more projects; applications accepted by email; deadline: December 20, 2013.

Terri Lynne Lokoff/Children’s Tylenol National Child Care Teacher Awards



This award, presented by the Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation, acknowledges the critical role of child care teachers in providing high-quality child care. Details.

Recipients receive $500 - $2,000  as a stipend to acknowledge each child care teacher’s special dedication and $500 to fund the classroom enhancement project they each designed. Award recipients will be honored at a special ceremony on Thursday, April 3, 2014 and will receive an all expense paid trip to the Philadelphia area. The top ten qualifiers become finalists for the Helene Marks Award to become the National Child Care Teacher of the Year. The teacher chosen as the Helene Marks Award receives an additional $1,000. General Mills Champions for Healthy Kids



Launched in partnership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation and the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, this has become a flagship program of the General Mills Foundation, distributing more than $5 million in grants to nonprofit organizations.

Through the Champions for Healthy Kids program, the General Mills Foundation will award 50 grants of $10,000 to nonprofit organizations working to improve nutrition and physical fitness behaviors for youth.

Claneil Foundation Special Project Fund



The Special Project Fund of the Claneil Foundation provides seed funding to emerging nonprofits, or to new projects of established organizations in the areas of education; environment; health and human services; and hunger and nutrition.

Applications accepted on an ongoing basis, but organizations need to submit a letter of intent (LOI). LOIs are reviewed in two cycles, with deadlines on December 1 (spring) and June 30 (fall).

General Guidelines for Letter of Intent: The letter of intent should describe your organization (please include the size of your operating budget), and the purpose for which funding is being sought. Include the total project costs and the requested grant amount.  Please conserve your resources and do not submit additional materials with the letter of intent.
