Champions for Healthy Kids Program



The General Mills Foundation’s Champions for Healthy Kids program makes grants to nonprofit organizations working to improve nutrition and physical fitness behaviors for youth ages 2-18.

Fifty grants of $10,000 are available to select applicants; NFP’s are eligible.

Wells Fargo in Fairfield, Hartford, Middlesex, and New Haven counties


Wells Fargo makes grants in two primary areas in the Connecticut counties of Fairfield, Hartford, Middlesex, and New Haven. The application and scads of information is online. Deadlines are rolling.

Community Development, supporting the improvement of low- and moderate-income communities through programs that:
  • Create and sustain affordable housing
  • Facilitate financial literacy and empowerment
  • Provide job training and workforce development
  • Revitalize and stabilize communities
Education, supporting organizations and programs that:
  • Work to eliminate pre-K – 12th grade achievement gap in public education through curriculum-based or school-sponsored programs
  • Support post-secondary education
Wells Fargo also considers grants in the following areas: Arts and Culture, Civic Engagement, Environment, and Human Services.

501c3’s and governmental agencies - including public school systems – are eligible. The application is online only.

Schools: N-Visioning a Brighter Future



The Westinghouse Electric Company’s  N-Visioning aBrighter Future Grant is awarded to schools that exhibit creativity in energy, science, technology and mathematics education of middle and high school students.

Five grants of $1,000 will be awarded to select applicants. Elementary, middle and high schools are eligible to apply.

The P. Buckley Moss Foundation's National Educators Grants.



The P. Buckley Moss Foundation awards National Educators Grants.

These grants, up to $1,000, will support a new or evolving program that integrates the arts into educational programming. The purpose is to aid and support teachers who wish to establish an effective learning tool using the arts in teaching children who learn differently.

Teacher Awards for Literacy

The Random House Teacher Awards recognize the nation's most dynamic and resourceful K-12 public school teachers who use their creativity to inspire and successfully instill a love of reading in students. The winning teachers will be awarded grants to help them make their innovative reading programs possible. The first place winner will receive $10,000; second place $5,000, and third place $2,500. Winners will be notified in advance of the annual NCTE meeting. In addition to grant monies, the first place winner's conference registration, travel, and lodging will be covered.

Loleta D. Fyan Grant (ALA)

The project(s):
  1. must result in the development and improvement of public libraries and the services they provide;
  2. must have the potential for broader impact and application beyond meeting a specific local need;
  3. should be designed to effect changes in public library services that are innovative and responsive to the future; and
  4. should be capable of completion within one year.
