Fuel Up to Play 60 Grants for schools

Fuel Up to Play 60 Grants award funding to schools to start or maintain a healthy nutrition and physical activity program.
Programs should be designed to increase:
    * Student awareness of the importance of healthy eating and increased physical activity
    * Student access to and consumption of nutrient-rich foods, including low-fat and fat-free dairy, fruits, vegetables and whole grains
    * Student opportunities for and participation in physical activity in school
    * Sustainable changes in making schools healthier
Eligibility: Schools must enroll in Fuel Up to Play 60 for the 2012-2013 year and participate in the National School Lunch Program.
Amount of funding: Up to $4,000.   Deadline: November 1, 2013 and June 4, 2013

Free School Supply Stash



Teacherlists.com, along with Kleenex and Elmer's, is giving free School Supply Stashes to K-12 schools that post a total of 20 school supply lists or teacher wish lists on TeacherLists.com.

School Supply Stashes contain $125 worth of classroom supplies.

TeacherLists.com is a free service that helps teachers quickly create and share their school supply lists, wish lists, and classroom holiday gift lists with parents.

Schools: N-Visioning a Brighter Future



The Westinghouse Electric Company’s  N-Visioning aBrighter Future Grant is awarded to schools that exhibit creativity in energy, science, technology and mathematics education of middle and high school students.

Five grants of $1,000 will be awarded to select applicants. Elementary, middle and high schools are eligible to apply.

GreenWorks! grants for shools


Get your green on with a Project Learning Tree (PLT) grant. PLT is awarding up to $1,000-3,000 to schools and youth organizations that propose environmental service-learning projects.

PLT, an award-winning national environmental education program for preK-12 educators and their students, is providing up to $1,000 for schools and youth organizations that propose environmental service-learning projects. Grants of up to $3,000 will also be awarded to registered PLT GreenSchools (registration is free) that have established a Green Team, completed one of more of the PLT GreenSchools! Investigations, and propose a project based on the findings of at least 1 of the PLT GreenSchools! Investigations. GreenWorks! encourages students to “learn by doing” through community action projects that improve an aspect of their school or their neighborhood’s environment. Some examples of past grant projects include energy conservation, habitat restoration, and watershed improvement.

Pay shipping only for Literacy Empowerment Foundation books via the Reading Resource Project

LEF (the Literacy Empowerment Foundation) Books’ Reading Resource Project is an ongoing program that runs throughout the year. The program distributes softcover books FREE of charge for Read Across America Day, National Drop Everything and Read Day, Children's Book Week, International Children's Book Day, and other literacy programs.

Recipients pay shipping, handling, and administrative costs: $0.68 per softcover book ($68 per set of 100 books). Reading Resource Project books come in sets of 100 books per set.

There will be at least 10 different titles in each set. Reading levels are available for Pre-K through Second Grade. Book selection and quantity is dependent upon availability, so there is no guarantee of specific titles. Books are sorted and shipped as close to a project's needs as possible, with regard to reading level and topic.

The P. Buckley Moss Foundation awards National Educators Grants.

These grants, up to $1,000, will support a new or evolving program that integrates the arts into educational programming. The purpose is to aid and support teachers who wish to establish an effective learning tool using the arts in teaching children who learn differently.

Teacher Awards for Literacy

The Random House Teacher Awards recognize the nation's most dynamic and resourceful K-12 public school teachers who use their creativity to inspire and successfully instill a love of reading in students. The winning teachers will be awarded grants to help them make their innovative reading programs possible. The first place winner will receive $10,000; second place $5,000, and third place $2,500. Winners will be notified in advance of the annual NCTE meeting. In addition to grant monies, the first place winner's conference registration, travel, and lodging will be covered.
