Toshiba American Foundation Grants for Grades K-5



The Toshiba American Foundation Grants for GradesK-5 is sponsored by the Toshiba America Foundation's Mission.

Grants are intended to provide teachers with additional funds to support classroom projects. After school and summer projects, and independent study projects are not eligible. The Foundation strongly encourages projects planned and led by individual teachers or teams of teachers for their own classrooms.

Any K-5 teacher in a public or private (nfp) school is eligible for a grant to support science or math education.

Deadline: October 1, 2013. Award Maximum: $1,000.00

Two from Build-A-Bear: Literacy & Education grants and Children's Health & Wellness grants



Build A Bear Workshop Literacy and Education Grants provide direct support for children in literacy and education programs such as summer reading programs, early childhood education programs and literacy programs for children with special needs. Music Is Revolution Foundation mini grant

The Music Is Revolution Foundation from Svengirly administers a mini-grant program for activities designed by teachers to implement, support, and/or improve their ability to provide quality music education for their students.

Only projects that clearly contain a music education focus - that is, projects based on the concept of music education, through musical experiences, initiating students into a sense of their social, academic, and cultural identity, and humanizing them through the emotional, cognitive, and/or physical impact of music will be considered.

Funds may be used for supplies, materials, equipment, transportation for a field trip, and/or to bring a performer or musical group to the school. Funds may not be used to pay for personnel, to replace state or local school funds, or for celebration food and drinks.

Public school teachers of children in grades K-12 may apply for funding.

Applications are reviewed three times a year. Deadlines are January 15, April 15 and October 15.

National Trust Preservation Funds

Maximum Grant:  $5,000            Deadline:  October 1, 2013         Guidelines and application.

The National Trust Preservation Funds (NTPF) accepts grant applications from members (see site) on a quarterly basis. Grants are intended to encourage preservation at the local level by providing seed money for preservation projects. These grants help stimulate public discussion, enable local groups to gain the technical expertise needed for particular projects, introduce the public to preservation concepts and techniques, and encourage financial participation by the private sector.

The National Trust is particularly interested in projects that relate to the preservation priorities listed below. If your project relates to any of these issues, please explain the connection in your narrative.

* Building sustainable communities: Does your project demonstrate that historic preservation supports economic, environmental and cultural sustainability in communities?
* Reimagining historic sites: Does your project use innovative, replicable strategies that create new models for historic site interpretation and stewardship?
* Promoting diversity and place: Does your project broaden the cultural diversity of historic preservation?
* Protecting historic places on public lands

Application deadlines are February 1, June 1, and October 1.

US Tennis Association Charitable Foundation Grants

This is a good one if you or an organization close to you is into tennis.

USTA Serves is the national charitable foundation of the U.S. Tennis Association.
Dedicated to improving the quality of life among our nation’s youth and people with disabilities, USTA Serves supports organizations that use tennis as a vehicle to help at-risk children finish high school and qualify for college scholarships.
Deadline: October 18, 2013 
To qualify for a USTA Serves Grant, your NFP organization must:
  1. Provide tennis programs for underserved youth, ages 5-18, with an educational* component OR
  2. Provide tennis programs for people with disabilities (all ages) with a life skills component for Adaptive Tennis programs AND
  3. Be a USTA Organization Member (Click here to join)
*Educational components may be defined as:
  • Promote academic achievement through homework assistance, tutoring, reading clubs and computer literacy
  • Participate in peer and professional mentoring programs
  • Learn about and practice healthy nutrition and physical fitness
  • Improve life skills that focus on character and social development
  • Offer college preparatory sessions
USTA Serves awards program grants twice a year to programs that support at-risk youth and people with disabilities through tennis and education programs designed to improve health, build character and strive for academic excellence.
To date USTA Serves has granted more than $11 million to fund 226 programs in 173 cities in 43 states, including more than $600,000 to adaptive tennis programs for people with special needs.
