Wells Fargo in Fairfield, Hartford, Middlesex, and New Haven counties


Wells Fargo makes grants in two primary areas in the Connecticut counties of Fairfield, Hartford, Middlesex, and New Haven. The application and scads of information is online. Deadlines are rolling.

Community Development, supporting the improvement of low- and moderate-income communities through programs that:
  • Create and sustain affordable housing
  • Facilitate financial literacy and empowerment
  • Provide job training and workforce development
  • Revitalize and stabilize communities
Education, supporting organizations and programs that:
  • Work to eliminate pre-K – 12th grade achievement gap in public education through curriculum-based or school-sponsored programs
  • Support post-secondary education
Wells Fargo also considers grants in the following areas: Arts and Culture, Civic Engagement, Environment, and Human Services.

501c3’s and governmental agencies - including public school systems – are eligible. The application is online only.

The P. Buckley Moss Foundation's National Educators Grants.



The P. Buckley Moss Foundation awards National Educators Grants.

These grants, up to $1,000, will support a new or evolving program that integrates the arts into educational programming. The purpose is to aid and support teachers who wish to establish an effective learning tool using the arts in teaching children who learn differently.

Lowe's Toolbox for Education grants (schools)

Applications are being accepted for the Fall 2013 cycle of the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation Toolbox for Education grant program.
 
Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to nonprofit public K-12 schools or affiliated parent groups working to improve their schools through facility enhancement, cleanup programs, and projects that encourage parent involvement and community spirit.

The deadline is October 15, 2013.

Lowe's is planning on donating a total of $5 million to U.S. public schools and public school parent teacher groups at more than one thousand public schools. For the 2010-11 program, the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation will focus on basic, one-time project needs.

Any individual nonprofit public K-12 school or parent group associated with a nonprofit public K-12 school is eligible to apply. Parent groups (PTO, PTA, etc.) that are applying must have an independent tax ID number and official 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. Groups that do not have 501(c)(3) status should apply through their school. Applicant schools must be at least two years old. Preschools are not eligible.

The program prioritizes funding requests that have a permanent impact such as facility enhancement (both indoor and outdoor) as well as landscaping/cleanup-type projects. Projects that encourage parent involvement and build stronger community spirit will be favored.

Grants may be requested for amounts between $2,000 and $5,000.

The deadline for submitting applications for this grant cycle is October 15, 2010.

P. Buckley Moss Foundation For Children’s Education

The P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children's Education is to promote the integration of the arts into all educational programs, with a special focus on children who learn in different ways.



Applications accepted only May - September 30, 2013.

Applications are for grants up to $1,000 to support a new or evolving program that integrates the arts into educational programming. Grant activities should aid and support teachers who wish to establish an effective learning tool using the arts in teaching children who learn differently.

Project Learning Tree



Project Learning Tree is accepting applications for PLTGreenworks grants. These grants are intended for environmental service learning projects such as: school/community native plant garden, a forest improvement project, a streamside restoration plan, a recycling program, or energy conservation project.

Grants are available in two award levels,the deadline fro both is September 30, 2013.

1) the popular and traditional GreenWorks! grants up to a maximum of $1,00
•  The maximum grant award for this level is $1,000
•  Grants must be completed in one year
•  Applicants must have attended a PLT workshop
•  The proposed project must involve service-learning
•  The proposed project must exemplify student voice
•  The proposed project must involve at least one community partner
•  The proposed project must secure at least 50% matched funds (in-kind acceptable)
 
2) GreenWorks! grants up to $3,000 for registered PLT GreenSchools.
• The maximum grant award for this level is $3,000
• Applicants must meet all the parameters for traditional GreenWorks! grant funding
• Applicants must be a school (public or private)
• Applicants must be registered on the PLT GreenSchools! website (It’s free!)
• Applicants must have an established Green Team
• Applicants must have completed one of more of the PLT GreenSchools! Investigations
• The proposed project must be based on the findings of one or more of the PLT GreenSchools! Investigations

Dominion Foundation educational grants, select towns


The Dominion Foundation is planning to award approximately $325,000 in educational partnership grants throughout a bunch of targeted areas including some in CT: Cities of Colchester, East Lyme, Groton, Ledyard, Montville, New London, North Stonington, Norwich, Old Lyme, Salem, Stonington and Waterford. These grants provide elementary and secondary educators with the tools they need to revitalize math and science programs through the study of energy or the environment.

Public and private elementary and secondary schools and public school divisions that are registered with the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES), institutions of higher education and 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations are invited to apply.

Deadline: May 1, 2013. Awards range from between $1,000 and $10,000.

SIGMS Technology Innovation Award



The SIGMS Technology Innovation Award from the InternationalSociety For Technology In Education  is presented to two teams of a school librarian and collaborating teacher from one primary school, or its equivalent, and one secondary school, or its equivalent each year. 

We're looking for teams who have planned a collaborative project involving technology, received support from administration, and successfully executed the project with supportive data and evidence for others to replicate the project. 
ISTE: International Society for Technology in Education

Deadline: February 28, 2013; Award: $2,000

Award winners receive:
  • Recognition at ISTE's annual conference and exposition.
  • Complimentary registration to ISTE's annual conference and exposition (two per team).
  • Up to $1,000 travel stipend for ISTE's annual conference and exposition (one per team).
  • A $1,000 cash award payable to the school media center (one per team).
  • A $300 professional library from ISTE (one per team).
  • A one-year ISTE membership (two per team).
  • An engraved plaque recognizing the recipient's outstanding achievement (two per team).
  • Recognition in ISTE publications, in press releases provided to local media, and on the iste.org/ website
